Here we have often discussed the importance of the term Direct Drive in SimRacing. But the variety of options available in the 2024 market is also important for choosing what best suits our tastes and preferences.
Today we will bring you a list sorted by strength of each Direct Drive base (Nm) as well as each link to the stores if you decide to take the step to Direct Drive.
Table of Contents
MOZA R3
We start with the latest from MOZA, which we've already covered in an article here on the website. It's about the new base (which includes pedals and wheel) MOZA R3, compatible with Xbox and PC.
With its compact X-shaped design to pay homage to this console, it offers a 3.9 Nm peak and a 15-bit encoder. Besides being included in the pack itself the MOZA ES steering wheel and its SR-P Lite pedals.
Supported platforms:
- Xbox X|S
- PC
It's not yet available to the public, although the release date is expected to be confirmed soon.
CAMMUS C5
With a force of 5 Nm, we encounter the revolutionary Cammus Direct Drive. The C5 includes a servo motor within the steering wheel itself to save space and be able to compete anywhere.
This Direct Drive becomes one of the most affordable options, offering a peak force of 6-7 Nm. For those who also require a pedal set and not just the base and steering wheel, Cammus has introduced its first bundle that includes 2 pedals (accelerator and brake).
Supported platforms:
- PC
It is not compatible with consoles.

Fanatec CSL DD
Fanatec is a highly recognized brand in the world of SimRacing. I would dare to say that it was the first to establish this almost "standard" for Direct Drive wheels, and thanks to competitors, we now have very affordable bundles from a reputable and durable brand.
The latest offer from Fanatec is that with the purchase of any wheel and pedals, the CSL DD 5 Nm base is discounted to €199.95, allowing for any combination at a low price.
Supported platforms:
- Xbox
- PC

MOZA R5 Bundle
We return to the MOZA brand, as we couldn't overlook the bundle that has been the subject of much discussion, being the direct competitor to the base you have just mentioned, the Fanatec CSL DD with 5 Nm. This MOZA R5 features a torque of 5.5 Nm and a 15-bit encoder.
It's not the only thing, as for the price of the bundle, around €570, it includes a pedal set with two pedals, a wheel rim, and a desk mount, making it one of the best entry-level peripherals for simracers.
Supported platforms:
- PC

These peripherals conclude the short list we have put together of the best inexpensive Direct Drive docks currently on the market. We look forward to providing you with some reviews of these devices in the near future.
See you competing!
