Austria was one of those races that, on paper, looked under control and then got genuinely complicated in the closing stages. Russell won from pole without giving up the lead at any point, but the finish cost him a lot more than expected thanks to a Verstappen who got increasingly serious on the fresher tyres.
The Dutchman started fifth after his qualifying crash, fought his way through traffic with that characteristic aggression of his and got to within less than two seconds of Russell with very few laps to go. He never had time to mount a proper attack, but second place at Red Bull's home race was an important sign of life for a team that had gone too many races without seeing the podium. Antonelli completed the podium in third, though not without a few hairy moments: he went off twice in the opening laps trying to fight Leclerc, had to give the position back, and Verstappen smelled blood and passed them both in one move. The Italian then recovered and in the final laps got right on the back of the Red Bull looking for second, but couldn't find the gap. Three tenths in it at the end.
Russell's pole also got people talking. On the final Q3 run, Verstappen went off into the gravel and brought out a double yellow flag just as drivers were trying to improve their times. Russell lifted just enough and set the fastest time.
This week F1 heads to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix, the ninth round of the year and the first in Europe with a sprint format. A packed weekend, with a single free practice session and two races. Hamilton returns to his home circuit, where he has nine victories, and Russell will be looking for back-to-back wins. If you want to get ahead of the weekend and put in some laps around the legendary Northamptonshire circuit, here are the mods and the schedule.

Silverstone Circuit for Assetto Corsa
Silverstone is included by default in Assetto Corsa under the name ks_silverstone, so if you have the game you already have it. What is worth installing on top is Pyyer's extension combined with his texture update, both available on OverTake.gg. It gives the track a significant visual overhaul: improved lighting, more accurate tarmac textures, updated kerbs and an overall much more modern feel without losing the essence of the circuit. You will need Custom Shaders Patch installed for it to work properly.

RSS Formula Hybrid X 2026
The same mod we have been recommending since Barcelona and Austria. The RSS Formula Hybrid X 2026 by Race Sim Studio remains the reference for simulating the 2026 season in Assetto Corsa: hybrid engine built to current regulations, active aerodynamics and very polished physics. On OverTake.gg you will find liveries for every team made by the community, including Hamilton's SF-26 if you want to recreate exactly what we are going to see this weekend at Silverstone.
